5 ways to use our vegan brie

Not only does our Bree look the part, it plays it too. Brie is a popular and versatile cheese with a soft and creamy texture. Our vegan version is hard to distinguish from it's dairy counterpart, and here are 5 ways that you can use just as as you would a dairy brie:

1. Brie (bree) and Caramelised Onion Tart: Create a delicious tart with the combination of caramelised onions and Brie cheese:

  • Roll out a sheet of puff pastry and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Spread a layer of caramelized onions over the pastry.
  • Slice a wheel of Brie cheese and arrange the slices evenly over the onions.
  • Bake in a preheated oven according to the puff pastry instructions until the pastry is golden and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
  • Slice the tart into squares and serve it as a flavourful appetiser or light meal.

2. Brie (bree) and Roasted Vegetable Tart:

  • Roll out a sheet of puff pastry and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Arrange a medley of roasted vegetables, such as zucchini, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes, on the pastry.
  • Slice Brie cheese and place the slices over the vegetables.
  • Bake in a preheated oven according to the puff pastry instructions until the pastry is golden and the Brie is melted.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs like basil or thyme before serving.

3. Brie (Bree) and Apple Grilled Cheese:

  • Spread a layer of Brie cheese on one slice of bread.
  • Layer thin slices of apple on top of the Brie.
  • Optionally, add a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra sweetness.
  • Top with another slice of bread.
  • Grill the sandwich in a pan or a sandwich press until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
  • Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy the delightful combination of creamy Brie and crisp apple.

4. Brie (Bree) and Mushroom Galette:

  • Roll out a round of pie dough or vegan puff pastry and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Sauté sliced mushrooms with garlic and herbs until tender.
  • Spread a layer of Brie cheese in the centre of the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Top the vegan bree / brie with the sautéed mushrooms.
  • Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a rustic galette shape.
  • Bake in a preheated oven until the crust is golden and the Brie is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve the galette as a flavourful vegan main course or appetiser.

5. Brie and Spinach Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms:

  • Remove the stems from portobello mushrooms and clean the caps.
  • Sauté spinach with garlic until wilted.
  • Fill each mushroom cap with a layer of sautéed spinach.
  • Top the spinach with slices of Brie cheese.
  • Bake the stuffed mushrooms in a preheated oven until the cheese is melted and the mushrooms are tender.
  • Serve as a satisfying and flavourful vegan entrée or side dish. Full of rich and familiar flavours for everyone to enjoy together,

These ideas allow you to savour the creamy and decadent flavorus of Brie without using dairy. They are perfect for appetisers, light meals, or vegan-friendly options that demonstrate the many delicious ways it can be enjoyed in the same way as dairy. Have fun experimenting and indulging in the deliciousness of vegan Brie!
